I grew up watching property change lives, long before I realised it was doing the same for mine.
My grandad built his own ‘personal economy’ through bricks and mortar, not pensions. He bought homes in Bristol with cash from his business and lived off the rental income for decades.
No pension plans, no endowments, no financial advisors, just a belief in property and a commitment to doing things properly.
I didn’t see the full picture at the time. I went into financial services, became an IFA, and spent years advising clients on pensions, savings and mortgages, all the while believing, deep down, that property was the better path.
Eventually, the penny dropped. Property had always been part of my family story, and I knew it could offer others the same long-term security, if done well.
That’s why we started Personal Economy Lettings. To help people take control of their financial future. To give landlords the support we wish we’d had. And to make sure the homes we manage are good ones for the people who live in them, not just the people who own them.
Looking back, I wish I’d made the leap sooner. But I’m proud to be doing it now and helping others do the same.
